Memory Ribbon
Katerina brings together her illustrations in the project Memory Ribbon - a series of quick linear drawings created after a long absence from home. Small in scale (10–15 cm), the sketches capture fragile, almost everyday observations and, when assembled into one continuous strip, form a visual archive of return.
The project unfolds around the theme of loss - not only of things, but also of one’s own identity. After experiencing two migrations, the artist returns to her hometown in Ukraine, where she documents the daily rituals of her grandfather, whose life still carries echoes of the everyday practices of Soviet Ukraine. Through the intimate act of drawing and the repetition of images, Memory Ribbon becomes an attempt to stitch together personal and collective memory, capturing the experience of home as a place that constantly slips away.
